DISCOVERY PROGRAM

DISCOVERY is for children between 2 and 3 years of age.  It relies on strong and stable relationships between teachers, children and their families; characterized by warmth, personal respect, individuality, positive support, and responsiveness. At this very young age, children need to explore and experiment, so a play-centered approach is the most natural way for our Discovery age children to learn.  Teachers can choose from a range of projects specifically designed to stimulate the children’s sense of curiosity for the world around them.

Teachers facilitate interactions among children to provide opportunities for development of self-esteem, social competence, and intellectual growth. For this reason, group sizes are limited to between 10 to 12 children per group (depending upon the room size) and the ratio of teachers to children is one teacher with three to four children.
